Ranaghat Mandakini Educational Welfare Society

Established by a visionary Late Balai Chandra Pal, with a missionary zeal, RMEWS strives tirelessly to implement the four pillars of education, viz. learning to know, learning to do, learning together and learning to be. We are always ready and alert to give the students knowledge in order the gain the competencies they need to outstand in their future. A combination of the four pillars is a much better idea, because of the opportunity to work in specific areas that continue to develop with changes in science and technology. The four pillars of education are important and necessary to acquire knowledge and obtain values lost in our society by the uncontrolled enlargement of the world. We believe in the philosophy , "If you can dream it, you can do it". Pro Deo et Patria!

With a view to promote utilitarianism, St Mary’s English School was founded in the year 2002 at Aishtala, Ranaghat, by Late Balai Chandra Pal, the Founder President of RMEWS. His view of serving the society in and around Ranaghat was reinforced by a few educationists and academicians and the school started its journey towards enlightening the future of the society in and around Ranaghat. With the passage of time, now it is primarily concerned about “gaining ability, a skill, some knowledge, a new attitude etc. rather than having merely completed a given task” and to thereby create global citizens of tomorrow. Our core concern is that every child should blossom.

A popular Tibetan Proverb goes… ‘A child without education is like a bird without wings’. Many people view this as cliché, but we all know how true this is. Perhaps, the question that begs answers is: “Can it really be possible for us to fly”? This question was posed many years ago by Daedal us in the Ancient Athens mythology. Leaving the comfort zone aside, RMEWS discovered the truth that “variety is the spice of life”. Thus the concept of inception of a state owned board came into the minds of the thinkers of the society and therefore, St Mary’s Secondary School came into existence. It follows West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. In the academic session 2019 it was upgraded to an H.S School, completing its journey towards a temporary fulfillment of dreams.
